TOHONO O'ODHAM BLACK ON TAN JAR circa 1930

This is clearly Tohono, but it's tough to date. We don't think it's much later than 1930, but it could be two or three decades earlier. There's so little published or recorded information about pieces like these that we end up guessing based on our own experience. Whatever its date, it's a nice older piece in very good shape. It has a collection number linked on its bottom, the way they used to do it in the old days. Coincidentally, this appears on page 159 of our The Desert Southwest, Four Thousand Years of Life and Art and the First Edition of Southwestern Pottery, Anasazi to Zuni.

3-1/2" diameter x 4-1/2" high

Condition excellent, remarkable for a piece this old
