LENA ALBERT (?–?)
TOHONO O'ODHAM BLACK ON RED EFFIGY JAR circa 1960
Lena Albert made this in Shoposk in the White Horse Pass area in the northeast of the Sells Reservation and sold it at nearby Kitt Peak. We know all this because it comes with as full a provenance as any little mid-20th century pot ever had—a little tag clipped to a typed description. This duck makes an appearance on page 135 of our Second Edition of Southwestern Pottery, Anasazi to Zuni and on page 160 of our The Desert Southwest, Four Thousand Years of Life and Art.
3-3/4" diameter x 4-5/8" high
Condition very good with stabilized crack and repair on neck
