HOPI POLYCHROME JAR circa 1930

Whover made this little jar had looked at some ancient pottery. The red key design outlined in black evokes prehistoric types like Tusyan Polychrome and Citadel Polychrome and other 14th-century types from the Hopi area. Otherwise, it's a fairly typical tourist bowl from the first third of the 20th century, polished on the outside and unpolished on the inside. The backwards-looking design elements, however, set it apart and put it in the unusual category.
