ISLETA POLYCHROME WEDDING VASE circa 1910
This is an unusual shape for one of these little Isleta tourist curios. For every wedding vase, you'll see a dozen baskets, bowls and cups, so this can claim a measure of comparative scarcity. These were made at Isleta by expatriate Laguna potters from aound 1900 to 1930. We're beginning to feel that the majority of these pieces were made earlier in that period. We found a couple of pennies in a little Isleta bank, and both were dated 1906. We put this on page 83 of our Second Edition of Southwestern Pottery, Anasazi to Zuni.
