SCOTT PEYNETSA (?– )
ZUNI POLYCHROME PRAYER MEAL BOWL 2012
The people at Turquoise Village in Zuni told us that Scott is "a cousin" of Zuni's reigning pottery family, and that's about all we know about him. Schaaf's Southern Pueblo Pottery tells us only that Scott is "active–?" although the book does picture a piece. This prayer meal bowl and its water serpent say a lot about his skill and creativity. It's carefully made in the family style, and its design has all the imagination that characterizes Peynetsa work. It features the only avanyu we've ever seen that has a turkey tail for a mane. We show this on page 195 of our Second Edition of Southwestern Pottery, Anasazi to Zuni.
