ROSE PACHECO (1968– )

KEWA POLYCHROME BOWL 2012

Rose Pacheco is from an illustrious Kewa pottery family. It includes her mother, the late Paulita Pacheco, her' uncle Robert Tenorio, her aunt the late Hilda Coriz, her brother Andrew Pacheco and her cousins Ione and Warren Coriz, and as a group, the family has dominated Kewa pottery for almost forty years. Rose, however, isn't content to copy her famous relatives. This little bowl shows a bird, which is about the only animal Kewa tradition allows its potters to portray, but it's a bird unlike any other bird that ever found its way to a Kewa pot. Or anywhere else, for that matter.
