POLYCHROME SHALLOW BOWL circa 1935
This is a typical Hopi tourist piece from the second quarter of the 20th century, nicely made and well painted. A definite plus is the beat-up Fred Harvey sticker on the base that dates it. You probably can't read it in the image, but it said FROM THE HOPI VILLAGES across the top and left a space left for a handwritten price. If the seller ever put a price on it, we'll never know, since the space is worn through. However, considering the times, it probably sold for less than a dollar. Today, it has a lot more value. It's an excellent Hopi piece that capsulizes a period.
5-3/4" diameter x 2" high
Condition very good. Minor paint abrasion consistent with its age.
